Both factory Ford Mustang topped FP1 GTD PRO at practice one for Sunday’s Michelin GT Challenge at Virginia International Raceway. But in the combined GTD PRO - GTD standings, the Ferrari #70 and the Aston Martin #27 fit in between the two Fords.

Ford Mustang 1-2 in GTD PRO

Belgian Fred Vervisch did set the benchmark of the opening practice session for Sunday’s Michelin GT Challenge at Virginia International Raceway with a 1:46.065 on board of Ford Mustang GT3 #65. With Dennis Olsen reeling a 1:46.250 in sister #64, the factory Ford Mustang GT3 EVOs scored a 1-2 in the GTD Pro class.

Frederik Schandorff driving #70 Inception Racing Ferrari 296 GT3 Evo was second overall by just 0.003 seconds and set the pace in GTD with a 1:46.068.

Paul Miller BMW fifth but crashed

Neil Verhagen driving the GTD Pro championship-leading #1 Paul Miller Racing BMW M4 GT3 EVO completed the overall top-five with a 1:46.315.

Verhagen had an accident in Turn 14 that brought out a red flag. As a consequence, the Paul Miller BMW, will be forced to surrender its fastest lap in qualifying.
