After both Porsche 911 GT3 R dominated the first four hours of the Motul SportsCar Endurance Grand Prix at Road America with #77 leading 52 laps and #911 leading 36 of the 99 covered, the #9 Pfaff Lamborghini Temerario GT3 took the lead for the rest of the remaining 36 laps and stroked its first victory in IMSA.

The Lamborghini Temerario GT3 first endurance race victory

The Lamborghini Temerario GT3 recorded its first endurance race victory as Pfaff Motorsports’ Andrea Caldarelli and Sandy Mitchell claimed GTD Pro honours in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship six hours of Road America.
The factory driver line-up aboard the #9 Lamborghini Temerario GT3 started eighth on the grid for the fourth round of the Endurance Cup campaign, and made solid progress inside the opening 90 minutes with Caldarelli at the wheel.
While misfortune would ultimately affect other rivals in the GTD Pro, a clean run and strong strategic calls amid multiple full course yellow periods allowed the #9 to climb to an impressive third two hours in.

Mitchell then took over from Caldarelli and kept the #9 in a strong position approaching the halfway point. The car was third before a fuel stop under yellow dropped it to fifth as strategy began to play an ever-increasing role in the outcome.
Caldarelli then used the improved race pace of the Temerario, which benefitted from a performance upgrade ahead of the race, to build a healthy lead, having opted for an alternative fuel strategy to those behind.
At the top of the final hour, Caldarelli came in for the last time, and the #9 remained at the head of the field with an extended margin of nearly 10-seconds before the race was neutralised again with 45 minutes left.

Further FCYs impacted the remaining portion of the race, with the final caution coming with just under 10 minutes left to run. The subsequent clean-up meant that the race ended under yellow, securing the first-ever endurance victory for the Temerario GT3.
The victory marks another crucial milestone in the short lifespan of the Temerario GT3, which made its global debut at the IMSA 12 Hours of Sebring back in March.

“Rexy” Porsche 911 GT3 R on the podium

In the GTD-Pro class, the two British drivers Harry King and Nick Tandy delivered a strong performance behind the wheel of car #77. The 911 GT3 R, nicknamed “Rexy” for its dinosaur-themed livery, crossed the finish line in second place after 142 laps at Road America. The identical 911 from Manthey also battled at the front at times but finished the race in ninth place due to penalties.

Tommy Milner and Nicky Catsburg returned to the GTD PRO podium

Corvette Racing by Pratt Miller Motorsports’ Tommy Milner and Nicky Catsburg returned to the GTD PRO podium in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship with a third-place finish at the end of a chaotic six-hour Motul Endurance SportsCar Grand Prix at Road America.

It was the third podium finish of the season for the duo in the #4 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R and first since the third race of the year. Milner drove the opening and closing stages with Catsburg driving the middle portion in a clean run by the No. 4 team.

The race and results had significant championship implications. Chevrolet’s lead in the class Manufacturers Championship grew to 105 points with three races and 1,155 points remaining. Milner and Catsburg remained second in the Drivers Championship but moved to within 15 points of first in the standings; the gap is the same in Teams points with the top-four within 99 points after Sunday.

TOMMY MILNER, #4 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: "A great points today for us. The 77 in front of us was already close to us and is even closer to us now. But we did make some headway on the BMW. That’s racing. Some years nothing goes your way, some years everything goes your way and sometimes it’s up and down. It seems like it’s that way for a lot of cars this year… some ups and downs. You have to make the most of these weekends that are in your favor and take the points when you can get them. I’m a bit disappointed in the general driving standards across the board. The fans deserve a little bit more than that after last year and now in a six-hour race. But I was very happy with our Corvette today. We did everything right with good strategy and good pit stops. No issues today at all, so I’m very proud of the team for that.”

(On the race length) "It's so cool to do six hours here. It's the right track for a longer endurance race like this one. The fans here are amazing. I think the number is like 31 percent more fans this year than last year. It is, in my opinion, the best IMSA racing track we go to all year long. Some events may be a little better and some tracks are more exciting in some ways. But when you think about multi-class racing, Road America is the best. You've got big, long brake zones, nice high-speed sections. This is a staple of sports car racing and should be for a long time."

NICKY CATSBURG, #4 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “I think we got unlucky with one of the yellows late because otherwise I think we would have finished P2 or in the fight for P1. But that’s just the way IMSA is sometimes. It can be a little bit of a lottery. But the main thing is that our pitlane work was amazing. The guys did great today. The car is like new! Tommy didn’t touch anyone! It’s a very good day for us and a good points haul. This is exactly how we planned to do it. We didn’t want to take big risks. It’s a bit of an eye-opener today, the way you can get results in IMSA, as well. I’m really happy and pleased with the crew work. All our stops were on it. We do need to look at some stuff to improve. It seems some of the others are able to save a lot of fuel and beat us in the pitlane. Two Mustang GT3 race cars into the top-five

Ford Racing put two Mustang GT3 race cars into the top-five in first six-hour IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship race at Road America.

#65 Ford Racing Ford Mustang GT3 driven by Chris Mies and Frédéric Vervisch captured a second consecutive GTD Pro class top-five finishing in fourth.

Ben Barker and Dennis Olsen made a late race charge to earn a fifth place finish in the No. 64 Ford Racing Mustang GT3.

Ford Racing unofficially holds fourth in the GTD Pro Manufacturers' standings with three races remaining while the No. 65 and drivers Mies and Vervisch also hold fourth in the Team and Driver standings.

Winward’s Third 2026 GTD Win

Russell Ward and Philip Ellis stroke their second consecutive race win and third of the ’26 campaign at the Motul SportsCar Endurance Grand Prix at Road America with the #57 Winward Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 after the Rolex 24 At Daytona at Daytona International Speedway and the Chevrolet Grand Prix at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.

They’re now just 24 points behind championship leader Eduardo ‘Dudu’ Barrichello who shares the #27 Heart of Racing Team Aston Martin Vantage GT3 EVO with Tom Gamble and Zacharie Robichon.

Russell Ward: “If we can avoid other competitors’ poor driving and crashing early in these endurance races and taking us out so we can have some semi-clean racing, this is what this team is capable of. We ran this race like an endurance race, really focused on the on the final pit stop and making sure that we push the fuel all the way to the end as far as we could,” he added. “Then at the end, Philip kind of jumped a couple of people, so I think it’s just a combination of how good the Mercedes-AMG is around this place and good strategy on our part.”

Philip Ellis: “I think we struggled a bit with our car balance and pace, and people tried different things to get in front of us on pit stops. That made it a lot more difficult today, but the crew had perfect pit stops “The crew had perfect pit stop and Russell and Indy did a perfect job as well keeping the car in one piece while also making up positions on track and taking opportunities when they arrived.” Source: IMSA

A strategy play and cautions helped Triarsi Competizione ascend to second in the #023 Ferrari 296 GT3 EVO, with Robert Megennis joining 2025 Road America GTD winners Kenton Koch and Onofrio Triarsi as they pitted with 77 minutes to go, but three late full-course cautions ensured they had enough fuel and energy to make the flag.

Car Blanche secured its second podium in as many GTD starts, with the trio of Valentin Hasse Clot, Marius Fossard and Trenton Estep sharing the #068 Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo. Initially listed fourth on the unofficial results, the #068 car was classified third ahead of the #81 DragonSpeed Corvette Z06 GT3.R, as a post-race review by race control revealed that the #81 did not complete its pass prior to the race’s final caution.
