New BoP more balanced between top 4 manufacturers
After benefiting from a more than favorable BoP, Ferrari dominated the championship in an insolent manner. Since the Balance of Performance for the Hypercar category was adjusted comparing to the Spa BoP, the performances of the Hypercar entries should be a little more balanced in Sao Paulo. Published on July 7th, the new BoP should give Cadillac, Porsche, and Toyota a slightly better chance of defending their chances at the upcoming 6 Hours of Sao Paulo.

FIA HYPERCAR WORLD ENDURANCE MANUFACTURERS’ CHAMPIONSHIP
The manufacturers' championship is, however, almost decided, as Ferrari has a 77-point lead over second-placed Toyota. Porsche and Cadillac have "caught their breath" by scoring big points at Le Mans and are back in the race still 88 and 96 points behind Ferrari.

With three races of 25 points each for the winner and Bahrain allocating 38 points to the winner, a maximum of 113 points is available for the winners in the last four races. The second placed car will therefore be critical to score the highest number of points possible to challenge Ferrari in the manufacturers title.

After two pole positions, two wins and three podium finishes in its four visits to date, the 6 Hours of São Paulo offers Toyota Gazoo Racing an opportunity to reduce the gap with Ferrari.

The #7 Toyota Gazoo Racing Toyota GR010 Hybrid drivers Kamui KOBAYASHI, Mike CONWAY, Nyck DE VRIES are so far second with 44 points. With a 61 points gap, the #7 trio would need to win the next three race and the #51 trio not clinching more than 14 points (a P4 (10 pts) and a P8 (4 pts)) to lead the drivers championship before the last round at Bahrain.
The Interlagos circuit has witnessed significant milestones in Toyota Gazoo Racing’s WEC history, from its maiden victory in 2012, to securing the manufacturers’ World Champions for the first time two years later. Last year’s successful title challenge was strengthened by a dominant performance there, with pole position and victory.

Kamui Kobayashi (Team Principal and driver, car #7): “The whole team is looking forward to racing again, especially in Brazil. The support we receive from our colleagues at Toyota do Brasil is fantastic, and the atmosphere at the circuit is really special. We didn’t get the result we wanted in Le Mans, and this makes it almost impossible in the World Championship, but we never give up and we want to fight for victory at every race. We know it will be a challenge because our rivals have shown strong performance so far this season, but we are all working very hard for this.” Source: Toyota Gazoo Racing

“We’re improving a lot, which we showed at Le Mans. The car has a lot of strong points, and we aim to utilize them on the Interlagos circuit,” Alex Lynn said of the first-year Hypercar works team: “I think the progress we’ve made since last year in Brazil and understanding the importance of tire management on the circuit puts us in a better position to challenge for the podium. We’ve done sim work and other things to prepare, and hopefully data collected at Le Mans and Spa will be put to good use.” Source: Cadillac Racing
