Schubert Motorsport used the race, listed as NLS 3 on the calendar (the first scheduled race was cancelled due to snowfall), as preparation for the 24-hour race in mid-May. Starting from second on the grid, car #77 was among the front-runners from the opening laps, delivered a flawless performance, and after four hours of racing through the “Green Hell,” claimed a well-deserved victory.

Marco Wittmann (#77 BMW M4 GT3 EVO, Schubert Motorsport, overall winner): “This is a fantastic success – both for Team Schubert on its return to the GT3 class on the Nordschleife this season, and for our tyre partner Yokohama. This victory is the perfect motivation for further preparation for the 24-hour race. Together with Yokohama, our goal now is to find the perfect operating window for the tyre under all conditions.”

Philipp Eng (#77 BMW M4 GT3 EVO, Schubert Motorsport, overall winner): “Every race on the Nordschleife is a pleasure – and winning makes it even more special. A victory is always great, but we know there is still a lot of work ahead of us with the 24-hour race in mind. We’ve now gathered a lot of data that we can analyse in the coming weeks.

Robin Frijns (#77 BMW M4 GT3 EVO, Schubert Motorsport, overall winner): “After it didn’t work out in the previous attempts, it’s very nice to have now completed the first race with the BMW M4 GT3 EVO and it went very well. I think we won the race thanks to the best strategy. We didn’t have the fastest car, but overall it was enough for victory.” Source: BMW

FRÉDÉRIC VERVISCH, #65 HRT Ford Racing Mustang GT3 – “It was a great result for HRT Ford Racing. It's been a really successful week for me at the Nürburgring. We did our record Ford GT Mk IV lap and now a podium during my first time driving the Mustang GT3 on the Nordschleife. The car was really amazing, with perfect conditions. It was a great drive by Dennis, Chris and Vincent. I’m really proud of everyone and for being able to help Haupt Racing Team.”

CHRISTOPHER MIES, #65 HRT Ford Racing Mustang GT3 – “The last time I was here racing, I won the Nürburgring 24h. Returning to the podium is a cool feeling. It was my first time driving the Mustang GT3 here under race conditions, and I was really surprised how much fun it is to drive. The team did amazing, and we had a great weekend.”

DENNIS OLSEN, #65 HRT Ford Racing Mustang GT3 – “It was a great race, moving up the field to third. I’d say that’s a really solid start to the Nürburgring program. Well done, Ford Racing, Haupt Racing Team and Multimatic Motorsports, on the good result. It was cool to share the car with Chris and Fred again, which was the Rolex 24 At Daytona class-winning line-up from last year. Having Vincent on-board was cool, and it completed a strong line-up. The Mustang GT3 felt great on the Nordschleife.”

VINCENT KOLB, #65 HRT Ford Racing Mustang GT3 – “A big thanks to my teammates for a fantastic job and to HRT Ford Racing for giving us a perfectly prepared Ford Mustang GT3. Starting from 18th position and fighting our way onto the podium makes this result even more special.” Source: Ford
