Ford Mustang road to success in endurance racing

After a learning year with the new Ford Mustang GT3 in 2024, Ford Racing made strong progress in 2025, with wins in IMSA and NLS and a first podium in FIA WEC… (for the endurance championships we follow).

Ford Racing is looking for more success in 2026 with the evolution of the Mustang GT3 that will be launched with the Rolex 24 At Daytona International Speedway.

3 GTD PRO wins in IMSA

Daytona

The Mustang GT3 started 2025 with a double podium in the Rolex 24 at Daytona with its first global GT3 victory. The #65 Ford Multimatic Motorsports Mustang GT3 of Dennis Olsen, Christopher Mies and Frédéric Vervisch earned a landmark victory while the #64 Ford Mustang GT3 also secured third place with Seb Priaulx, Mike Rockenfeller and Austin Cindric at the road course of Daytona International Speedway..

Detroit

At Detroit, the#64 Ford Multimatic Motorsports Ford Mustang GT3 led 55 of 81 laps in the 100-minute race. Seb Priaulx started from the pole position before he handed off to Mike Rockenfeller who crossed checkered flag first the fourth round of the season for the Grand Touring Daytona Pro (GTD PRO) class.

Indianapolis

Seb Priaulx and Mike Rockenfeller added a third win at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway with #64 Ford Mustang GT3 closing the season in P3 in the GTD PRO teams and drives championships.

First victory at Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie

Thanks to Frank Stippler’s long experience with the ADAC Nürburgring Endurance Series and his mastering of the “Green Hell”, the # 6 Haupt Racing Team Ford Mustang GT3 offered the Ford Mustang’s first victory at the Nürburgring during the 8th round of the NLS Speed-Trophäe 2025.

One podium with Proton Competition in FIA WEC

With Proton Competition in FIA WEC, the Ford Mustang GT3 scored its highest championship points at Spa-Francorchamps and Le Mans:

  • Dennis Olsen, Stefano Gattuso and Giammarco Levorato captured their first podium of the season aboard the #88 Ford Mustang GT3 scoring 18 points in the championships. Sister car #77 shared by Bernardo Sousa, Ben Tuck and Ben Barker missed out on a top-three finish by just a second.

  • Starting the 24 Hours of Le Mans from P13, Bernardo Sousa, Ben Tuck and Ben Barker took the chequered flag in ninth place scoring 18 points in the championships.

Next evolution at Rolex 24

The evolution of the Mustang GT3 will be launched this season with the Rolex 24 At Daytona International Speedway. This package upgrade has been in development since the moment the Mustang GT3 first hit the track, aiming to further establish Mustang not only as an American icon but also as our global sports car racing platform.

Ford Racing and its partners did take key learnings across every Mustang GT3 program around the globe over the last two years to fine tune the platform in three areas: Aerodynamics, Kinematics and Braking. More about those developments.
