#26 Mercedes-AMG GT3 fourth

The PROsport Racing's #26 Mercedes-AMG GT3, painted in the colors of BILSTEIN and HELLA, shared between Adam Christodoulou, Kyle Tilley, and Jake Hill gave the leading Aston Martin a run for its money during the first hour of the race before dropping down the overall standings. Hill, the 2024 BTCC champion, caused a stir in qualifying, putting the car in fourth place on the grid with a time of 7:57.614 minutes in the final minutes of the session. Christodoulou took over at the start of the race, fought his way up to second place, and delivered a thrilling duel at the front of the field for several hours. On the final lap, the Mercedes overtook the Aston Martin to snatch fourth place.

#35 Aston Martin Vantage GT3 EVO fifth

In the morning’s qualifying session, Krognes secured pole position with a lap time of 7:54.452 minutes. The long-serving Walkenhorst Motorsport driver was just under three seconds faster than his closest rival.

During the race, a spectacular battle for the lead unfolded in the first stint. However, Krognes retained the lead when he handed the car over to his South American team-mate after his first stint. In a chaotic, sweltering race marred by numerous accidents, Villagomez drove a flawless race and learnt a great deal – which is vital for the Ecuadorian in his first full season on the Nordschleife. The pair Krognes - Villagomez in the #35 Aston Martin Vantage GT3 gradually dropped down the overall standings to finish fifth.

“The conditions were extremely difficult due to the intense heat, as concentration and driving technique can deteriorate more quickly in such conditions, as was evident from the many serious accidents. We are therefore pleased that both our cars reached the finish line unscathed. Mateo learnt a lot today, which was the most important thing for him as a first-timer. The pace of our Aston Martin was very good, as we saw from Christian’s pole position, and the thrilling battle during the first stint was a real highlight. We’ve also learnt a great deal from our tyre partner Pirelli, which will be very important for the future,” said team principal Jörg Breuer. Source: Walkenhorst Motorsport
