Aston and Cadillac fastest at Interlagos FP1 and 2

Thursday's fastest lap was still far from the fastest lap set in the Hypercar era last year by Alex Lynn in a Cadillac V-Series.R around the Interlagos track. The 1:24.271 set during a full qualifying sim was 1.699 second slower than the 1:22.570 set by Lynn last year. Both Valkyrie’s and Cadillac V-Series.R among top 5. Three Aston Martin Vantage drivers among the seven fastest drivers in LMGT3.

Both Aston Martin Valkyrie second and third

Harry Tincknell topped the times in the first practice session aboard the #007 Valkyrie with a 1:25.457. Both Aston Martin’s Valkyries showed pace in FP2 also, with Marco Sorensen in the #009 taking second in the times with a 1:24.331 and Harry Tincknell aboard the #007 sitting third with a 1:24.487.

Both Cadillac V-Series.R fourth and fifth

The two Cadillac V-Series.Rs were next as Jack Aitken in #38 slotted in fourth with a 1:24.685 and Will Stevens in #12 fifth with a 1:24.713.

Three Aston Martin Vantage and Maxime Martin’s Mercedes in top 7 LMGT3

Heart of Racing’s #23 Aston Martin Vantage took third with Kobe Pauwels while #27 Vantage duo of Zacharie Robichon and Mattia Drudi were sixth and seventh.

Maxime Martin in #61 Mercedes-AMG LMGT3 from Iron Lynx drove the fifth fastest lap with a 1:34.883, 0.385 second from Thursday’s LMGT3 fastest lap.

Schedule

Saturday 11 July, a third free practice session will run from 10.10 a.m. to 11.10 a.m., followed by Qualifying (3.10 p.m.) and Hyperpole (3.30 p.m.), which will determine the starting grid for the 6 Hours of São Paulo.

Sunday 12 July, start of the 6 hours race at 11.30 a.m. local time.
