Corvette wins WEC LMGT3 at 6 Hours of Sao Paulo

Second win in a row for TF Sport and the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R but this time with #34. Team WRT #69 BMW M4 GT3 EVO second podium of the season after their triumph at Imola. Fourth podium for THE BEND MANTHEY Porsche 911 GT3.R and third P4 for sister #91. First top 5 for Ford Mustang GT3.

Corvette Racing’s second Straight LMGT3 Win

TF Sport and the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R won a second straight race in the FIA World Endurance Championship’s LMGT3 class as the #34 Racing Team Turkey by TF Corvette won the Six Hours of Sāo Paulo on Sunday.

The trio of Corvette factory driver Charlie Eastwood, Salih Yoluc and Peter Dempsey combined for a mistake-free race along with a faultless performance by the TF Sport crew and engineering team. The No. 34 Corvette set a new standard in the race by not just being the first team to win the LMGT3 race from outside the front row but also coming from 10th at the start to do it.

Yoluc was aggressive from the start. He gained three spots at the start and ran third by the fifth lap. By the time the No. 34 Corvette made its first pit stop just past the 70-minute mark, Yoluc was third. The TF Sport engineering team pitted Yoluc just shy of the two-hour mark from the lead, and Dempsey continued his season-long run of strong driving by keeping the Corvette out front for the majority of his time in the car.

Eastwood got in for the final two race stints just inside of two hours remaining with a significant strategy and fuel advantage. That proved valuable as he had to make the final stop of the race earlier than planned with a punctured tire. Eastwood was able to maintain his pace until he stopped with 63 minutes left for new tires and a fuel top-off.

He emerged effectively in the lead – one of the Lexus entries was on an alternate strategy and had to stop a few laps later – by a scant 0.7 seconds. The Corvette factory driver responded with a strong drive as the skies darkened and took the checkered flag by eight seconds.ok a long time, we worked really hard, and to achieve this now is just so, so nice. A big thank you to everyone working behind the scenes.”

CHARLIE EASTWOOD, #34 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: "We came out behind the Porsche and BMW, but we knew we had a fuel advantage at the stop because obviously we were able to extend with Peter because his pace was so strong, which was great. So we got up to the back of both Harper and Pera. In the battle with Harper we actually got a puncture. So we had a sort of 20-minute window over the guys to sort of short-fuel and then try and manage it to the end. Luckily, the valve basically bent inward and we didn't actually completely deflate the tire. But that meant we had to stop before the BMW so all of a sudden we went from thinking we were very comfortable to having a sort of push on. But once we got into the last part of the stint, I was able to just try and manage the gap to the BMW behind. It was flawless on every pit stop and both of these guys (Yoluc and Dempsey)... we had the best race of the year so far. With a green race like that, if you just tick every single box and there's not a mistake throughout, you get the result we did. Super happy for TF Sport and happy for Corvette. What a run."

SALIH YOLUC, #34 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: "Everyone did a great job as usual. We never got unlucky this week. That was a great relief. It's been a long time coming, and I'm very happy to be here.”

(On his stint) "I tried to be aggressive on the first lap to overtake as many cars as possible. That's the best chance we had. By the next couple of laps we were up to P5, I think. At that point, I was waiting for the race to come to us and didn't want to push too hard to protect the tires. We do have a little bit of a tire deg advantage. We played a bit of strategy as well and got up into the lead. I don't really know where we are right now on strategy but it looks pretty good right now. There weren't too many close calls with traffic. There were a couple of times where Hypercars were being aggressive as usual, but nothing too dramatic."

PETER DEMPSEY, #34 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: "We knew that if Salih gave us the car at the front, all the responsibility was on me to keep it in a good spot and give it to Charlie. In my double-stint I just did my best I could and not try to lose too much time to the competition. Luckily our pace was super strong through the stints. I was actually able to keep the gap pretty steady, manage the pace and the tire deg. Overall I was happy with that. Having not raced in such a long time, to come back here and win a race like this is something I never thought I'd do at 40 years old. So super proud of that and I'm so proud of everything the team have put into it, both TF Sport and Corvette. So I'm very, very happy. “

Runner-up spot for the #69 BMW M4 GT3 EVO

Team WRT was able to celebrate again after two disappointing races. In the #69 BMW M4 GT3 EVO, Harper, Thompson, and McIntosh moved up from fourth on the grid to finish second, securing their second podium of the season after their triumph at Imola.

Dan Harper (Team WRT, #69 BMW M4 GT3 EVO, 2nd place LMGT3): “Second place here in Brazil is a fantastic result. We didn’t expect that, as the circuit didn’t really suit the BMW M4 GT3 EVO. I think the cooler conditions on race day played into our hands. The longer the race went on, the better our car became. Hats off to my teammates who put us in a great position with their qualifying laps and stints. The team did a perfect job and found the optimal strategy for us. Everyone deserved this podium.” Source: BMW

Podium finish for The Bend Manthey

Manthey celebrates another 3-4 finish in São Paulo, repeating its season-opening result from Imola. The Bend Manthey crew secured third place and their third podium of the season, while Manthey DK Engineering completed the strong team result in fourth. Starting from seventh (#92) and eleventh (#91) on the grid, the Bronze drivers of both Porsche 911 GT3 Rs initially lost positions during the opening stages of the race at the Autódromo José Carlos Pace. However, aided by different strategic approaches, both cars quickly began working their way back through the field. A very early first pit stop after just 24 laps made the #91 the first LMGT3 car to stop, giving James Cottingham a tyre advantage and allowing him to move into the top five in less than 90 minutes of racing. At the same time, the strategy left the car at a disadvantage later in the race against competitors who fitted fresh tyres much later. Meanwhile, the The Bend Manthey car opted for single stints for its Silver- and Platinum-rated drivers. As a result, Richard Lietz was able to hand the car back to Riccardo Pera in third place for the first time after just over two and a half hours of racing. Despite their differing approaches, both Porsche entries entered the final hour in close proximity following their final pit stops, running sixth (#92) and eighth (#91). The race had remained largely green throughout and consequently developed into a hectic contest, a trend that continued over the final 60 minutes. Richard Lietz and Ayhancan Güven launched impressive recovery drives through the field, pulling off a number of decisive overtakes. Ultimately, both Porsche 911 GT3 R emerged victorious from a three-car battle involving the #88 Ford, moved into third and fourth positions and successfully held those places to the chequered flag. For The Bend Manthey, the result marked a third podium finish and a third P3 result of the 2026 season, while Manthey DK Engineering completed this with a fourth place for the second time this year. Both driver crews scored valuable championship points: Lietz, Pera and Shahin climbed three positions and now sit second in the LMGT3 standings at the halfway point of the season (49 points). Cottingham, Boguslavskiy and Güven are tenth with 30 points.

Yasser Shahin, The Bend Manthey Porsche 911 GT3 R #92: “We are absolutely thrilled to come away from São Paulo with a podium finish. We came here determined to fight for a result like this, and it feels fantastic to come away with third place after such a close and hard-fought race. The whole team did an outstanding job, and this podium is a great reward for all the effort that went into this weekend. This was the definition of working for it.”

Riccardo Pera, The Bend Manthey Porsche 911 GT3 R #92: “I’m incredibly happy with this P3. It’s our third podium of the season, which is something we can all be very proud of. It also marks my first podium in Brazil, making this result even more special. A huge thank you to the team – the car was fantastic throughout the race. We had a lot of great battles on track, and I really enjoyed being behind the wheel. Yasser and Richie both did an amazing job, and together with a strong strategy and flawless execution from the team, we were able to make this result possible. Now our focus is on carrying this momentum into COTA.”

Richard Lietz, The Bend Manthey Porsche 911 GT3 R #92: “It was an exciting race – perhaps even a little more exciting than I would have liked. At the same time, it shows just how competitive the LMGT3 field has become. Despite the changing conditions, we managed to get the maximum out of our package. The cooler temperatures towards the end of the race certainly didn’t make things any easier, and defending our position was far from straightforward. That makes this third-place finish even more satisfying, as it allowed us to secure a top result and score valuable points for the championship. All three drivers did a fantastic job, and overall it was a challenging but very positive weekend for us.”

James Cottingham, Manthey DK Engineering Porsche 911 GT3 R #91: “It was a really tight race with green-flag running almost all the way through, which is quite surprising year after year on such a short and narrow circuit. Starting from a difficult qualifying position, we demonstrated very good average pace throughout the race and gradually worked our way forwards. The team made some very smart strategy calls, particularly with the short opening stint, which helped put us in a strong position. Finishing P4 and coming so close to the podium is something we can be pleased with. Of course, I’m also delighted for our sister car to secure another podium finish. Overall, it was a strong result for the team, and we’re looking forward to carrying this momentum into COTA.”

Timur Boguslavskiy, Manthey DK Engineering Porsche 911 GT3 R #91: “It was my first time racing in Brazil, and it turned out to be a very positive weekend. I felt comfortable in the car from the beginning and was able to show strong pace during my stint. Finishing third and fourth as a team is a fantastic result and a great reward for everyone’s hard work. We probably didn’t have the outright pace of some of our competitors, but through a bold strategy, strong performances from all three drivers and excellent execution by the team, we were able to make the most of our package. In the end, we came away with a great result and some very valuable championship points.”

Ayhancan Güven, Manthey DK Engineering Porsche 911 GT3 R #91: “Finishing P4 in São Paulo after starting from P11 is a really strong result. Throughout the race, we steadily worked our way forwards and stayed in contention, so to cross the line in fourth place, directly behind our sister car, is very satisfying. After the disappointment of Le Mans, it was great to be back fighting at the front and in the battle for the podium again – only missing out by half a second. The entire team and both of my team-mates did an outstanding job all weekend. There are a lot of positives to take away from this race, and hopefully we can carry this momentum into Austin and fight for our first podium there.” Source; Manthey

Top-5 finish for Ford Mustang

Both Ford Mustang LMGT3 made an immediate impression when the race got underway, too. Within the opening laps, Powell and Gattuso had each carved through the field, moving into first and second positions in the LMGT3 class.

“It was a great start to the race for us, moving up to the lead from eighth on the grid,” said Sargeant. “The pace was strong, so it was all about keeping things clean and staying in the battle.”

Following the final round of pit stops, both cars remained in the fight for a podium finish, with Sebastian Priaulx and Logan Sargeant taking the wheel for the closing stints. Despite a determined push to the chequered flag, fortune ultimately did not fall Proton Competition’s way. Sargeant brought the #88 Ford Mustang LMGT3 home in fifth place, while a late-race penalty dropped the #77 entry to tenth after running inside the top five for much of the event.

LOGAN SARGEANT, #88 Proton Competition Ford Mustang GT3: “It was clearly a big step forward here in Sao Paulo compared to the first few races we’ve done this season so that was really nice to see. To be fighting for a podium is obviously good and some important motivation for the team going forward. There are a few bits on the car that could have been a bit better but nonetheless we’ll work on that for next time out and get a better result.”Source: Proton Competition

The team maintained its strong pace throughout the six-hour contest as Tuck and Levorato took over driving duties. Tuck delivered an outstanding middle stint to keep the #77 Mustang firmly in podium contention and was recognised with the Goodyear Wingfoot Award for his speed and consistency.

“Eric did a great job in the opening stint, and I inherited the car in the lead,” said Tuck. “I tried my best to stay there across two tough stints, almost two-and-a-half hours in total, and that was a lot of fun.”

SEB PRIAULX, #77 Proton Competition Ford MustangGT3: ‘It was a difficult one today for me, I started alright but halfway through my stint, I really struggled with the front-right grip – I need to find out whether we had an issue with the car as it certainly felt like that. Apologies to my team-mates for the track limits, I couldn’t keep it on the track due to the issues I was having with the car. It’s a shame to end the day like that and to get the penalty. Overall, we need to figure out what happened and move on from that.”
