Alpine and Toyota faster than Ferrari at Imola
After watching the Ferrari 499Ps dominating the Prologue Tuesday and Practice 1 this morning, many were wondering if we would have the same refrain as previous seasons with Ferrari above all. Luckily Practice 2 is reviving the enthusiasm of WEC fans with Alpine and Toyota faster than Ferrari during the afternoon session. Six manufacturers are represented in the top 8 fastest lap, all under the 1:32.500 mark.
Milesi alone under 1:31
Charles Milesi did set a new benchmark at Imola this afternoon’s Free Practice 2 aboard his #35 Alpine Endurance Team A424. His best lap was a 1:30.898, the only one sub-1:31 lap of the week so far.

Toyota second
Nyck De Vries driving the #7 Toyota Racing TR010 Hybrid was 0.114 seconds short with a 1:31.012

Both Ferrari 499P third and fourth.
Antonio Fuoco was the fastest Ferrari drivers in third, with a 1:31.036, in Ferrari 499P #50 while Giovinazzi in sister #51 was fourth with a 1:31.087. Both are with 2 tenth of a second from Milesi’s benchmark.

Peugeot fifth
The #94 Peugeot TotalEnergies 9X8 of Malthe Jakobsen was fifth, with a 1:31.225.

Robin Frijns with the #20 BMW M Team WRT Hybrid V8 is sixth, with a 1:31.354.
