Ford Mustang looking for new podium at Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie

Haupt Racing Team is back in action on August 16th for the next round of the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie (NLS): the KW 6h ADAC Ruhr-Pokal-Rennen. The team accomplished its mission, earning an SP9 Pro-Am class victory in the ADAC RAVENOL 24h Nürburgring in June. In preparation for the event, the team has also recorded one NLS second-place class podium this season. Haupt Racing Team Ford Mustang GT3 #6 will be driven by Frank Stippler, Vincent Kolb and Patrick Assenheimer.

FRANK STIPPLER: "I'm looking forward to race the Mustang after the long lasting NLS summer break especially because I'm sharing the car again with my long term teammate Vincent alongside Patrick. The main target is to finetune the car further more for the specific Nordschleifen requests."

VINCENT KOLB: "I’m really looking forward to taking the Ford Mustang GT3 out on the Nordschleife again. It’s such a unique car with an incredible sound and character – driving it here is always a special experience. Our focus will be on consistency and teamwork to get the best possible result this weekend.”

PATRICK ASSENHEIMER: "I’m happy to be back in the Ford Mustang GT3 for the next round of NLS. Together with Vincent and Frank I hope to have a clean race and fight for a top position.”

NLS Speed-Trophy is entering its second phase with NLS6, the sixth round out of 10 in the championship.

NLS Speed-Trophy, based on overall results only, is contested by the faster classes: SP9 (GT3) and Cup 2 (Porsche 992 GT3) .

In a 4-hour race, points are awarded as follows: 1st place 15 points, 2nd place 11 points, 3rd place 8 points, 4th place 6 points, 5th place 4 points, 6th place 3 points and 7th place 2 points. For the six-hour race duration, a factor of 1.25 (rounded) is applied. NLS 6 is the longest round of the trophy with a 6 hours race. The registered teams that have achieved a position among the top 20 in the overall standings at a race are classified.

Last year winner, Team FALKEN Motorsports is currently leading the Trophy with the Porsche 911 GT3 R #4 (125 pts) ahead of the “Grello” Porsche 911 GT3 R #911 (119 pts). Both claimed 4 podium so far with 2 victories for Falken Porsche #3 and one for Manthey EMA’s “Grello”. (BTW: the worst three results per car will be deducted at the end of the championship so that each team is free not to participate to the 10 rounds)

Scherer Sport PHX

After winning Nürburgring Qualifiers’ race 1 (NLS 4), Laurens Vanthoor and Patric Niederhauser won Race 2 (NLS 5) with #16 Scherer Sport PHX Porsche 911 GT3 R. The team did not register for the NLS Speed-Trophy.
