Vanthoor - Porsche fastest during session 3 today

Session 3 this morning didn’t see any GTP improving previous sessions fastest lap with Vanthoor’s best lap more than a second slower than Blomqvist’s combined session benchmark. GTD PRO class saw combined session’s benchmark improvement.

Session 3 slowest in GTP

Laurens Vanthoor driving #6 Porsche Penske Motorsport Porsche 963 was fastest on Friday morning session with a 1:36.475, 0.066s faster than Ricky Taylor, who was second in the #10 Cadillac V-Series.R for Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing.

Vanthoor’s best lap was still more than one second slower than Blomqvist’s combined session benchmark set Thursday morning during session 1.

Six drivers setting fastest lap combined sessions in LMP2

In LMP2 class, six drivers did set their team’s fastest lap of combined sessions.

Charles Milesi driving TDS Racing’s #11 ORECA LMP2 07 was fastest in class with a 1:39.909 seconds. With Enzo Fittipaldi in #73 Pratt Miller Motorsports’ Oreca, setting the second-fastest with a 1:39.983 they are the only ones under the 1:40’ mark of session 3. They are respectively fourth and sixth of combined sessions results LMP2 class.

G. Saucy (#22 United Autosports), M. Jensen (#2 United Autosports), L. Sargeant (#18 Era Motorsport) and Sebastien Bourdais (#8 Tower Motorsports) were the four other drivers improving their team’s fastest lap of combined sessions during session 3 still above the 1:40’ mark.

Maro Engel sets combined sessions fastest lap

Maro Engel in the #75 Mercedes-AMG GT3 of 75 Express was quickest in GTD Pro and did set the fastest lap of combined sessions after logging a run at 1:46.251, 0.620 faster than Max Hesse driving Paul Miller Racing’s #1 BMW M4 GT3 EVO, second of the session.

Two Corvettes dominate GTD class

Scott McLaughlin driving DXDT Racing’s #36 Corvette Z06 GT3.R was fastest of GTD after nailing a flyer of 1:47.155 seconds which is still 0.774 seconds slower than V. Hasse Clot’s fastest lap of combined sessions in 1:46.325 with #19 Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo. A second Corvette was in the top two of GTD class, with Giacomo Altoe in DragonSpeed’s #81 hitting a lap of 1:47.303.
