ALMS: Free practices and qualifying at Sepang

The first round of the 2025-2026 Asian Le Mans Series started 12/12/2025 with two free practices of the 4 Hours of Sepang weekend at Sepang International Circuit. Qualifying sessions occured on Saturday morning.

One qualifying session for two starting grids

Despite running two 4 hours races this weekend at Sepang, only one qualifying session per category (LMP2, LMP3 and GT) is determining the starting grid for both races as follows:

โ–ช The first fastest lap of each competitor will determine its starting position on the grid of the first race;

โ–ช The second fastest lap of each competitor will determine its starting position on the grid of the second race.

Roda claims seventh consecutive ALMS pole

Giorgio Roda secured pole position for the first 4 Hours of Sepang races adding another pole to the six he secured during from the 2024/25 season.  The Italian lapped the Sepang circuit in the no5 United Autosports Oreca in a best time of 1m55.614, finishing 0.588 seconds ahead of the rest of the field. Jens Reno Moller will start race 1 on the front row after posting a best lap of 1m56.202

Jens Reno Moller will start race 2 from pole

Jens Reno Moller will start race 2 from pole as the Daneโ€™s second fastest lap of 1m56.262 was good enough to claim pole position in the #49 High Class Racing Oreca-Gibson at the end of the 15-minute qualifying session. The #43 Inter Europol Competition Oreca will start from the front row for Sundayโ€™s race ahead of the #5 United Autosports Oreca after Georgios Kolovos set the second best time.

Nielsen Racing tops Free Practice 1

The first 90-minute practice session of the 4 Hours of Sepang weekend saw the #64 Nielsen Racing Oreca top the time sheets 1.8 seconds ahead of the rest of the field.
 
Alex Quinn posted a 1m53.362 lap of the 5.543km Sepang International Circuit, 1.829 seconds ahead of the #3 DKR Engineering Oreca after Mathias Beche set a best time of 1m55.191, with Mikkel Jensen third in the #5 United Autosports Oreca with a 1m55.386 lap.

CrowdStrike Racing By APR fastest in wet 2nd session

The second 90-minute Free Practice session of the opening day of the 4 Hours of Sepang weekend saw the #4 Crowdstrike Racing by APR Oreca-Gibson set the fastest lap as a rainstorm hit the Sepang International Circuit.
 
Malthe Jakobsen set a 1m55.667 lap just before the rain became heavier, the Danish drivers lap 2.3 seconds slower than the best lap set in FP1 but 0.532s faster than the second best in FP2, a 1m56.199 by John Falb in the #20 Algarve Pro Racing.  Marino Sato was third fastest for Ponos Racing, the Japanese driver posting a 1m56.941.
