ELMS Season 2018 Race 5/6: 4 Hours of Spa

After two hours of racing, heavy rain caused the 5th race of the European Le Mans Series 2018 Championship to stop with a red flag. The # 22 United Autosports Ligier, driven by Phil Hanson and Filipe Albuquerque takes its first victory of the season.

Nico Hülkenberg-Earl Bamber-Nick Tandy offered Porsche a 17th victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Nico Hülkenberg took the chequered flag for the #19 Porsche 919 Hybrid one lap ahead sister car #17. It was Porsche’s 4th double in 65 participations at Le Mans.

At the 6 Hours of Circuit of the Americas, the fifth race of the fourth WEC season, Porsche drivers Mark Webber, Timo Bernhard and Brendon Hartley with their Porsche 919 Hybrid #17 posted their second victory of a series of four consecutive victories during the 2015 season.

Scott Pruett Started in pole driving the Ford Ecobooster #01 Chip Ganassi Racing. With his teammate Joey hand, they won the 73 laps race.

After taking 1-2-3 in qualifying, the Porsche Team led the first half of the race. The second half of the race saw a strong fight for the lead, which changed several times, between Porsche #18 and Audi #7. Andre Lotterer, Benoit Treluyer and Marcel Fassler (Audi #7) won.

The 24 Hours of Spa 2014 were competitive, with 14 cars within 1 second on the grid and a mix of brands: Audi, Ferrari, Mercedes, Bentley, McLaren, BMW, Aston Martin and Nissan in the first thirteen positions.

The fight for the lead was intense throughout the race. René Rast swooped down on the then-leading BMW Z4 GT3 Team Marc VDS #77 and passed it within 20 minutes from the finish. The Audi R8 LMS # 1 of Laurens Vanthoor, Markus Winkelhock and René Rast won.

In GTE Pro, AF Corse and Ferrari # 51 (Bruni-Vilander) logically won ahead of Porsche # 91 (Pilet-Bergmeister). Ferrari’s second F458 (Rigon-Calado ) came in 3rd.

After a fantastic double at the 6 Hours of Silverstone, Toyota won the 6 Heures de Spa-Francorchamps. The #8 TS040 driven by the Davidson-Buemi-Lapierre trio wins ahead of the #1 Audi R18 e-tron quattro.

The 90th anniversary running of the Le Mans 24 Hours LMGTE categories, featured entries from Ferrari, Aston Martin, Porsche and Corvette as well as Dodge Viper from ALMS. It was a tough race for the drivers with changing conditions, with a mix of dry and wet track along with cool temperatures and wind. Several incidents such as the tragic death of Allan Simonsen triggered several safety cars, some for 45’.

It was the second 24 Hours of Spa victory for the team and fifth for Porsche.

Dumas was the first man to win both Spa 24 and Le Mans 24 in the same year since Luigi Chinetti in 1949.

The 60th edition of the 24 hours of Spa-Francorchamps was run under varying weather conditions with heavy. The lead was then shared by the #33 Jetalliance Aston Martin, both Vitaphone Racing Maseratis, the Scuderia Playteam Maserati, the PK Carsport and Carsport Holland Corvettes.

The Carsport Holland Corvette #5 took over the lead with one hour before to go and victory with a margin of 1:17.756.
