Earl Bamber, ahead of the next WEC round in Fuji, explains the benefit of GT3 races to compete at the highest level and come back to the 24 Hours of Nürburgring victory.

Earl Bamber, between a GT3 race in Okayama and the next WEC round in Fuji, shares his greatest success and thoughts about Cadillac Racing’s results and outlook in WEC.

After 5 out of 7 races in the WEC championship, the time has come to take stock of the integration of the LMDhs in the Hypercars championships.

What are the key differences between LMH and LMDh in the Hypercars category?

Lamborghini Iron Lynx completed a major step of its exciting hypercar journey last week at Imola, as the brand-new Lamborghini SC63 race car made its testing debut in a successful two-day session.

Corvette Racing, Ben Keating, Nicki Catsburg and Nico Varrone are already World Endurance Champions with still 2 races to run before the end of the Championship. Porsche 911 RSR-19 trust the podium.

The fifth round of the World Endurance Championship saw 7 different leaders in Hypercars class due to alternate pitting strategies but it was Toyota#7 who dominated the race with 143 laps on the lead out of the 200 covered.

The start of the 6 Hours of Monza was chaotic with Ferrari #51 spinning after being hit by Toyota #8. Peugeot #93 was on the lead at the end of hour 1 but Toyota #7 took control again at mid-race.

Kamui Kobayashi with Toyota GR010 Hybrid #7 clinched the pole point with a lap time of 1:35.358, 0.017 seconds ahead of Antonio Fuoco with Ferrari 499P #50. Kubica in LMP2 and Bovy in LMGTE AM were the fastest in their class.

The fastest lap performed by Pier Guidi with Ferrari #51 (1: 37.533) during the morning session (FP1) was considerably improved by 10 drivers during the afternoon session (FP2). Kamui Kobayashi did set the benchmark in 1:36.363.

Before heading to Monza, Cadillac is third in the manufacturers’ championship, 56 points behind Toyota Gazoo Racing (38 behind Ferrari) with a lead of 16 points over Porsche.

TOYOTA GAZOO Racing leads Ferrari by 18 points in the manufacturers’ title race. Both are eager to win at Monza.

With both entries finishing sixth and seventh, the privateer team Glickenhaus beat the Peugeot and Porsche factory teams.

Alessandro Pier Guidi, James Calado and Antonio Giovinazzi with Ferrari 499P #51 won the Centenary edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Two Ferrari will start first row the 24 Hours of Le Mans for the first time since 1973, when Arturo Merzario and Carlos Pace posted the fastest time in the 312 PB ahead of Jacky Ickx and Brian Redman also in a 312PB. Antonio Fuoco was the fastest of Hyperpole with Ferrari 499P #50. Pier Guidi with sister #51 was second.

Four hypercar manufacturers (Ferrari, Toyota, Porsche and Cadillac) qualified each two cars for the Hyperpole, which will run tonight between 8:00 - 8:30 pm, featuring the eight best cars in each class participating in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The ranking of the test day is not significant for the 24 Hours of Le Mans as teams are working on the setup of their cars. Ferrari did lead both sessions and Porsche has its three factory cars in the top 6.

Cadillac is paying homage to its first venture to Le Mans with the same car numbers 2 (the usual WEC entry) and 3 (IMSA #01 Chip Ganassi Racing) as 1950, along with #311 (IMSA #31 Whelen Engineering).

Ahead of the centenary of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Porsche is third in the FIA World Endurance Manufacturer’s Championship (WEC) and second in the Weathertech Sportscar Manufacturer’s Championship (IMSA). For the June 9th race, Porsche will feature 4 LMDH prototypes.

With three consecutive podium finishes Ferrari has increasingly bridge the gap with Toyota. Fifty years after its last Le Mans win, is Ferrari going to win again for the centenary of the 24 Hours of Le Mans?
